Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is to claim a prestigious design award after resisting the challenges of a large number of competitors.
A 24-member jury firstly narrowed 2,500 vehicles down to 778 before picking their winners in 16 categories.
The vehicle, which was recently displayed with a gold exterior at the Dubai International Motor Show, triumphed in the
‘Transportation Design’ category in the
‘iF product design awards 2010′.
Professor Gorden Wagener, Head of Design at
Mercedes-Benz, said: "This sought-after award for the new
SLS AMG is a great honour for us.
"It also reflects the extremely positive feedback on the design of the SLS that we have been receiving since the September world premiere at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt."
Meanwhile, the award ceremony for the winners is set to take place in Hanover on March 2nd, while the
SLS AMG will be permitted to use the iF label for its entire lifecycle.
It is not the first time that the vehicle has been recognised in recent months, as it received the most votes from readers of German motoring magazine Auto Bild and newspaper Bild am Sonntag to collect the Golden Steering Wheel accolade.
